Detecting and Deterring Drugs in Shetland

The Dogs

Dogs Against Drugs have sourced all our dogs from Les Davidson from Berwickshire. Les is a trusted friend of the charity and produces working dogs in small numbers and of the highest quality. All of our dogs are registered with the Kennel Club and their bloodlines can be traced back for many generations.

We are often asked why we have chosen Labradors. There is no one answer. Labradors are kind, loving, outgoing, loyal, eager to please and friendly towards everyone. They are naturally athletic dogs and have great endurance. They are made to work and are an extraordinarily healthy breed. This combined with a nose that can be more than 10,000 times more sensitive than a humans and you have a formidable drug detection machine.

Although our dogs have learned one of the hardest disciplines available to a police dog they still teach us things every day. They are loyal and will always ask for help when they need it. They never hold grudges, know how to show appreciation and are comfortable with who they are.

All our Dogs are Dual Purpose Drugs Detection Dogs, trained to find illegal drugs on people as well as area searching.
